Singer S800 Fashionista Sewing Machine
The Singer S800 Fashionista sewing machine get high marks for simplicity and an effortless learning curve. This machine is easy enough for a beginning sewer, but it has enough features to please an experienced seamstress.
The first feature to mention is the number of stitches programmed into this machine. With seven buttonholes, eight stretch, nine basic essentials and 76 decorative stitches, you’ll never run short on creative and durable stitches. It also boasts six one-step button hole processes for making every type of buttonhole you need.
Add the extensive number of included feet and you’re set for pretty much any project. Included with your machine are zipper foot, buttonhole foot, all-purpose foot, satin stitch foot, blind hem and rolled hem feet, gathering foot, overcast foot, side cutter, straight stitch foot and a darning / free motion quilting and embroidery foot.
Once you’ve threaded the machine, the Singer S800 takes over and threads the needle for you. A great boon for tired eyes or less-than-optimum lighting conditions. The needle can be set to 13 positions, so there’s a perfect setting for any project.
You can set your machine’s maximum speed up to 750 stitches per minute. This is great when you need to get your project completed quickly, but you can also reduce maximum the speed for heavy and bulky fabrics.
The stitches are set for optimal width and length, but you have the ability to override the settings to suit your particular needs. The needle can also be set to stop in the down or up position, depending on whether you need the pivot ability for quilting and appliques or need to quickly and easily remove the fabric.
The removable extension table is a great treat for large projects like quilts or drapery, and with the table removed you have a perfect free arm for cuffs, doll clothes and small projects.
Singer is using a jam resistant bobbin system in the S800. This top loading drop-in bobbin system minimizes the risk of thread jams and the bobbin area has a clear, plastic cover so you can see how much thread you have in a glance.
The automatic start button allows you to use your machine without using the foot pedal. This is great for free motion quilting. Simply set the speed to one that you’re comfortable using for quilting and push the start button. Free motion quilting just got so much easier and fun.
This diminutive unit is packed with many features of a much higher priced machine.
